Riboflavin, scientific name vitamin B2, CAS No. 83-88-5, English name Riboflavin, is one of the B vitamins. It is a water-soluble vitamin, but slightly soluble in water. At 27.5°C, the solubility is 12mg/100mL. Soluble in sodium chloride solution, easily soluble in dilute sodium hydroxide solution, easily soluble in alkaline solution, stable in strong acid solution. Heat and oxidation resistance. Light and ultraviolet radiation cause irreversible decomposition.

The riboflavin test is mainly used to test the spray coverage effect of the spray device under a certain cleaning water pressure or flow rate. The principle is that riboflavin is yellow-green fluorescent under the irradiation of an ultraviolet lamp (also called a black light lamp). Use whether a certain part shows fluorescence to judge whether it is covered by the sprayed solution. To put it simply, the spray coverage test is to confirm whether the equipment can be washed, that is, the cleanability; As for whether it can be cleaned, it is a problem that needs to be confirmed in the cleaning verification. For example, use conductivity to test water quality to confirm that the tank is clean。

When performing the equipment spray coverage test, the riboflavin solution is first sprayed on the part of the equipment to be tested (usually the entire inner surface, and the outer surface may also be included for parts that need to be cleaned as a whole) with a watering can, and then inspected. If all parts have been wetted, it means that all parts have been sprayed with riboflavin solution, otherwise, it should be sprayed again until the inspection is qualified.

After the riboflavin solution is sprayed and qualified, turn on the cleaning system to spray, and after rinsing for a period of time under the set spray pressure or flow rate, turn off the spray system, turn on the equipment, turn off the light, create a dark environment, and clean the equipment under the ultraviolet light. Carry out a comprehensive inspection of the cleaning part, if no fluorescence is observed, it means that the spray ball can be covered, and the spray coverage test is qualified; Otherwise, the spray coverage test is unqualified. If the test fails, the cause should be investigated, and measures should be taken to retest.
